2023 CANADA University of Montreal Scholarship Program for International Students

The University of Montreal Scholarship Program has been created with the aim of assisting the most intelligent talents all over the world to further their studies at one of the world’s number one francophone research universities.

As a result these international students will contribute to our educational mission by enhancing the cultural diversity of the Université de Montréal community.

The UdeM Exemption Scholarship Program is specifically designed to assist international applicants in pursuing their university studies. Beginning in the fall of 2020 eligible students could receive an exemption from the tuition fees typically applicable to international students.

The scholarship awards continue to be offered for the winter 2023, summer 2023, fall 2023 and winter 2024 sessions.

Scholarship Details

The University of Montreal is a publicly funded research university situated in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The primary campus of the university is situated in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce on Mount Royal near the Outremont Summit which is also known as Mount Murray, within the Outremont borough.

The institution is made up of thirteen faculties, over sixty departments, and two affiliated schools.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be an international student.
  2. Should possess a valid study permit and must not be a permanent resident of Canada or a Canadian citizen.
  3. Must be enrolled full-time in a study program for the entire duration of their studies at the Université de Montréal.

Undergraduate

  • Level A: $12,951.76 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $6,475.88 per session (15 credits) or $431.73 per credit.
  • Level B: $6,172.60 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $3,086.30 per session (15 credits) or $205.75 per credit.
  • Level C: $2,159.15 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $1,079.57 per session (15 credits) or $71.97 per credit.

Masters

  • Non-research: $10,046.35 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $3,348.78 per session (equivalent to 15 credits) or $223.25 per credit.
  • Research: $10,169.68 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $3,389.89 per session (equivalent to 15 credits) or $225.99 per credit.

PhD

  • $21,593.35 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $7,197.78 per session (equivalent to 15 credits) or $479.85 per credit.

Application Process

Apply for admission: Begin by exploring the “Compass” an interactive checklist that will guide you through the necessary steps for the application and admissions process. Ensure that you adhere to the application deadlines and meet the admissions requirements for your desired study programs before filling out the application form.

Follow-up on your application: Shortly after submitting your admissions application, you will receive access codes for the “Student Centre“. This platform allows you to track your application’s progress and receive your letter of acceptance.

Accept the offer of admission: Once you receive the offer of admission you can proceed with the evaluation process. There’s no need to apply separately for the UdeM Exemption Scholarship. The university will assess new candidates’ files to determine their eligibility and the scholarship amount they qualify for.

Receive the notice of award: Upon receiving your admissions offer the Université de Montréal will promptly notify you of the scholarship amount you are entitled to via email. It is important to print and safely keep this document for future reference.
