The Czech Republic’s Government offers scholarships as part of its Foreign Development Cooperation to support the education of foreign nationals from developing countries. These scholarships are available for study at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.
Scholarships awarded by the Government of the Czech Republic aim to promote specific Bachelor’s, Master’s, follow-up Master’s and Doctoral study programs in full-time mode at universities or their Faculties. The scholarship duration corresponds to the regular study period and is non-transferable to other individuals or academic years. Once granted, changes to the university, study program and field of study are not permitted.
The scholarship provides coverage for essential expenses associated with living and studying in the Czech Republic. The scholarship amount is subject to change overtime, please bear that in mind.
Currently, students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or follow-up Master’s study programs receive CZK 14,000 per month. Doctoral students, on the other hand, receive CZK 15,000 per month.
The scholarship includes a portion allocated for accommodation costs. Scholarship holders are responsible for covering their accommodation, food, and public transport expenses under the same conditions as Czech Republic citizens.
If the student requires health services beyond standard care, they will be responsible for covering those expenses themselves.
- The scholarships are specifically intended to support the education of adult foreign nationals from developing third countries in need. Individuals who are citizens of the Czech Republic, citizens of European Union member states, or foreign nationals with permanent residence permits in the Czech Republic are not eligible for this type of scholarship. Additionally, the scholarships are not granted to applicants under 18 years of age, and they must have turned 18 by September 1st of the year they commence studies in the Czech Republic.
- For Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Study Programs along with a one-year Preparatory Course in the English language (when combined with other field-specific training), government scholarships are awarded to graduates from upper secondary schools or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree programs who can only enroll in study programs conducted in English. Depending on the subject area, applicants may be required to take entrance examinations at the respective higher education institution, and successful passing of these examinations is a prerequisite for receiving the scholarship.
- For follow-up Master’s or Doctoral Study Programs, government scholarships are awarded to graduates of Bachelor’s or Master’s Study Programs who enroll in study programs with instruction in English.
The Scholarship Review Board will also consider the applicants’ academic performance in their previous studies, and priority will be given to students who have not had the opportunity to study abroad before.
